COMMITTEES

Various committees are active within Statewide Mutual. Collectively, they provide governance, coordination, and advice on critical factors whilst upholding the values and objectives of the mutual. The three primary committees operating within Statewide Mutual are:
^

Finance Committee

^

Claims and Risk Management Committee

^

Marketing Committee

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee plays a vital role in determining member contributions, rebates, and increases in accordance to budgets presented on the Liability, Property Mutual, and Crime (Fidelity Guarantee) schemes. These budgets contain options on variations in expiring contributions, and the Finance Committee recommends to the Board of Management which option is best suited to the continued financial security of each scheme.

When considering the options, the board is always mindful of the financial constraints that NSW councils operate under as a result of rate pegging legislation.

Claims and Risk Management Committee

The Claims and Risk Management committee is a sub-committee of the Board of Management. Its functions are to:

^

receive and consider the claims of Member Councils;

^

make recommendations to the Board in relation to claims and their payment; and

^

work with the scheme manager, Jardine Lloyd Thompson, to organise payment of any claims.

The committee is also responsible for advising and approving all elements of the Risk Management Programme, including revisions of associated Best Practice Manuals, Guidance Notes and Training Modules. The ultimate goal being the reduction in incidence of claims.

Marketing Committee

Due to the importance of promoting and positioning Statewide Mutual to NSW local government in the most accurate and efficient manner, the remit of the Marketing Committee is vital. It’s the responsibility of the committee to plan, develop, assess, and approve all internal and external marketing communications activity to be executed as part of the marketing strategy calendar.

This involves everything from reviewing changes to the brand and corporate identity of the mutual, thorough to approving online marketing strategies.
